Your money. Your corporation’s money. Let’s keep it clear
Everyone handles money differently. Some business owners keep their business and personal accounts separate. Others use personal cards for business purchases to collect rewards, or receive business payments into a personal account.
We take the time to understand how you handle your money. Together, we identify business income and expenses that have passed through your personal accounts and make sure they’re properly recorded in your corporation’s books.
How these transactions are recorded can affect both your personal and corporate taxes, so it’s important to get them right.
If a transaction needs clarification, we ask. When it’s time to review how you’re paid, your accountant has organized records to work from.
Tax time starts with the books.
We reconcile your accounts, work through your questions and get your books ready for corporate tax filing.
We can help you through the filing process, or prepare everything you need to take to your own accountant. We take care of the bookkeeping and accounting preparation first, so your accountant can focus on the final review and filing.
Before everything is finalized, we go through the numbers with you so you understand them and can ask questions.
Behind on your corporation’s books? Start here.
Whether it’s a few months or several years, we’ll help you figure out where things stand and catch up on your bookkeeping properly.
We review the records you have, identify what’s missing and work through the bookkeeping and outstanding questions. If corporate tax or GST/HST returns are overdue, we help you get the records ready and work out the next steps for filing.
You don’t need to sort everything out before contacting us. That’s part of what we help with.
Let’s start with where things stand
1
We talk about your business.
We discuss your corporation, how you currently manage the books and what you need help with.
2
We review your records.
We look at your existing bookkeeping, accounts and outstanding work, then agree on the scope and pricing before we begin.
3
We get to work.
We organize your records, complete the bookkeeping and follow up with you on anything that needs clarification.
4
We go through the numbers.
We review the completed work with you, explain the results and plan the next steps—whether that’s ongoing bookkeeping or getting ready to file.
The right level of support for your business
Some corporations need monthly bookkeeping. Others are well served by quarterly updates. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your activity, reporting needs and how much support you want throughout the year.
Your fee depends on your transaction volume, number and types of accounts, and the complexity of your bookkeeping. Foreign-currency accounts, investment activity and transactions between related companies can require additional work. If your books need catching up first, we quote that separately.
We agree on the scope and pricing before we begin, so you know what’s included.
