Accounting & Tax Support in Vancouver
xBooks helps service-based business owners with bookkeeping, year-end accounting and business tax filings. From your day-to-day records to your completed year-end, we handle the details and help you understand the results.
Your bookkeeping and year-end accounting, handled together.
Bookkeeping and accounting, working together
Bookkeeping and year-end accounting are often handled separately. We bring them together.
We like doing the bookkeeping because it lets us understand your business and build your books properly from the start. We consider how transactions affect your accounts, what supporting records are needed and what will need attention at year-end.
When the year is complete, we handle the year-end accounting and prepare a filing-ready package for CPA review. The goal is a complete file, with outstanding questions resolved and no further accounting work needed.
The CPA reviews the final package and asks questions or double-checks where needed. Because we’ve already completed the accounting work, additional accounting fees are often unnecessary.
Know where your business stands
You can be busy, bringing in revenue and paying bills—and still be unsure how much your business is actually earning.
We bring your records together and review the details behind the numbers, so you can see what you earned, what you spent, what you owe and what customers still owe you.
Then we review the results with you, explain anything that needs attention and answer your questions. You should understand your financial reports and feel comfortable using them to make business decisions.
The details that make a complete set of books
A reconciled bank account is part of the work. We also look at what’s behind the transactions and whether the accounts reflect what actually happened in your business.
Business expenses paid personally
Software subscriptions, supplies and supplier invoices may have been paid from your personal accounts. We ask about these purchases and review supporting receipts so business expenses aren’t overlooked.
Money between you and your business
We account for amounts you contributed, withdrew or paid on the business’s behalf, keeping those transactions distinct from business revenue and expenses.
Equipment, loans and financing
We review equipment purchases, financing records and loan balances so the year-end accounts reflect the assets and amounts owing.
Sales deposits and payment-processing fees
We check the reports behind payment-processor deposits, including sales, fees, refunds and taxes, rather than treating the bank deposit as the whole transaction.
From accurate books to completed tax filings
Every business has different bookkeeping needs.
That’s why we take the time to understand your business before providing a clear quote.
Keep your accounts reconciled and your records organized, with financial reports that show how your business is doing.
Bookkeeping
& financial reports
We review the accounts, prepare year-end adjustments and supporting schedules, and resolve outstanding balances. Your completed financial statements provide the foundation for tax preparation.
Year-end
accounting
We review the sales and purchase records behind your return, work through missing information and prepare the filing. We explain the amount owing or refund and confirm the reporting period so you know what the return covers.
GST/HST
returns
We help prepare and complete your business tax returns using the year-end accounts and supporting documents. Before filing, we review the return with you, explain the results and confirm any balance owing or refund. You know what is being submitted and approve it before filing.
Sole Proprietor & Corporate Tax Filings
We’ll recommend the bookkeeping frequency that’s right for your business and provide a clear quote before any work begins.
Support is always included—it’s simply part of how we work.
Questions don’t wait until tax time. You might receive a CRA letter, buy equipment, change how you get paid or wonder how to record a business purchase.
When something comes up, you can bring it to us. We help you understand what it means, what information is needed and what to do next.
As we work through your books, we also flag items that need your attention and follow up on missing information. You stay involved without having to figure everything out yourself
Someone to turn to throughout the year
Behind on your books or tax filings?
You don’t need to have everything organized before contacting us. Whether you’re a few months behind or have several years to work through, we’ll start by figuring out what’s complete, what’s missing and which filings need attention.
We help gather the records, bring your books up to date and work through outstanding questions. From there, we can prepare the information needed for overdue filings and put a manageable routine in place going forward.
